Iftar
Dinner at Old St. Joseph's Church
|
|
Philadelphia
Dialogue Forum and Old St. Joseph’s
Church Co-hosted Iftar Dinner
On Sunday
September 13, Philadelphia Dialogue Forum partnered with Old St.
Joseph’s
Church to bring together their communities around the same table,
sharing food
and thought. This was a product of long standing informal dialogue
series being
held at Old St. Joe’s. The crowd started the dinner with the
traditional Muslim
call to the prayer, “adhan”. At the end, information was
given by Kenan
Cetinkaya, a doctoral student at Temple University
about the
month of Ramadan and how it is felt in the hearts of millions of Muslim
around
the globe. He stressed that Ramadan means remembering the value of the
bounties
of God and sharing these bounties with neighbors in the atmosphere of
peace.
Check out the PDF website for more Ramadan activities next year, when
the month
of Ramadan starts on August 12, 2010.
