Saturday Brunch Series 

Hon. Richard J. Hodgson, President Judge of Montgomery County, “Crime Issues Our Society Encounters Today”, November 19th, 2011

 Philadelphia Dialogue Forum held a new Saturday lecture event at its office. The event, which was attended by more than thirty participants from the Turkish-American community, began with a great brunch. Following brunch, Dr. Yazicioglu, treasurer of Dialogue Forum, gave a welcome speech and introduced Hon. Richard J. Hodgson, President Judge of Montgomery County.

 Hon. Richard J. Hodgson talked about "Montgomery County District Court" and mainly focused on the "Crime Issues Our Society Encounters Today" during his talking. He also responded to the questions from the audience.

 To show our appreciation, Hon. Richard J. Hodgson was given a decorative plate which was designed with original Turkish designs. The event ended with an informal chat between the Dialogue Forum members and Hon. Richard J. Hodgson and his wife. Hon. Richard J. Hodgson and his wife shared their comments about the program. At the end of the event, participants were very pleased about the event and they stated that they are looking forward to the next one.

 A briefly information about the Montgomery County District Court: Montgomery County is the 38th Judicial District of the Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania. The Court of Common Pleas has a complement of 23 full time judges. There are 30 Magisterial District Judge courts, strategically located throughout the county, within the District. An elected Magisterial District Judge presides over each of the individual district courts. The District Courts serve as the initial tier of Pennsylvania's Unified Judicial System Our District Courts maintain jurisdiction over criminal preliminary arraignments and preliminary hearings; summary criminal offenses; traffic offenses; municipal code violations; landlord/tenant suits; and civil claims where damages do not exceed $8,000.
